WHAT WE DO

Good communication skills are the #1 quality of a good leader.
We help you to be a dynamic speaker in every forum and in every medium.

Fini and Ari conducting a workshop

Over the past 20 years we’ve developed a method to help executive leaders improve their public speaking and overall communication skills in any environment, circumstance or situation. We train CEOs, Presidents and Senior Executives to be more effective communicators – from one-on-one interactions with direct reports to employees at all hands meetings, as well as professional colleagues, customers, board members, press and industry analysts.

We are actors and trained improv artists. Improvisational acting techniques can enhance your ability to cultivate and project your innate Charisma, which is the keystone of the power to persuade.

Charisma embodies specific qualities that all great speakers possess.
These qualities have universal appeal,
they resonate with virtually any audience,
and they can be learned.

THE COMPONENTS OF CHARISMA

Gears illustrating the mechanics of Charisma
  • You are Authentic. You speak in your own voice and are comfortable in your own skin.
  • You are Confident. You can project yourself effortlessly into a room and have a commanding presence.
  • You are in Harmony. Your body language is consistent with what you’re feeling and thinking.
  • You are Spontaneous. You notice everything in the room and engage with the world and people around you in the moment.
  • You are Captivating. You hold the attention of the room, whether speaking publicly or one-on-one. You share your ideas and information with authority and humor.

Great speakers persuade as much by their physical presence as their message, sometimes more. While charm is an attribute strongly associated with charismatic people, other qualities are also important. Charismatic speakers captivate their audience through humor, spontaneity and genuine warmth. They project confidence and authority, because they are self-aware – their emotions and intentions are in harmony with their external demeanor. Their body language, mannerisms and vocal inflection communicate authenticity – this person is the “real McCoy.” In turn, authenticity lends credibility to the speaker’s message.

While some people seem to have a natural gift for public speaking, almost anyone can learn how to become a more effective, charismatic communicator. It isn’t a matter of changing you; it’s about developing untapped intrinsic qualities you already possess. Awesometicity can teach you the techniques that will help you tell your story and captivate your audience.

WHAT WE’LL TEACH YOU TO DO

  • Tap the wellspring of your unique Charismatic qualities.
  • Trust yourself to show your Authentic self to others.
  • Get comfortable in your own skin – learn to be self-aware instead of self-conscious.
  • Make things easy on yourself. If the space is uncomfortable for you – for any reason – see if there is anything you can do to alter it in your favor.
  • Control your attention span so your attention span does not control you.
  • Find and focus on friendly faces in the audience.
  • Become a better listener, keep your attention on others. The most effective communicators listen to understand, not just to respond. All forms of public speaking are a conversation, whether you are speaking to an audience of one, or an audience of 5,000.
  • Keep it upbeat and relaxed. People like other people who have a light touch – they have an easy smile, they’re optimistic and positive.
  • Use Humor and Spontaneity to win over your audience. Playfulness, a sense of fun, not only nourishes your own well-being, but it also enhances your charismatic appeal to others.
  • Command your stage – move consciously, with intent.
  • Show the passion you have for your subject or your mission so your audience will care about it, too.
  • Stay calm, cool and collected under pressure.
  • Diffuse stress in tense situations.
  • Become a dynamic and fascinating speaker in every forum, in every medium.

HOW WE’LL HELP YOU DO IT

Improv
  • Improv techniques provide a vehicle to help you overcome inhibitions or shyness that prevent you from feeling spontaneous, vibrantly alive and engaged in any circumstance. These qualities are crucial for successfully connecting with an audience and enhancing its receptivity to your message.
  • Authenticity is a foundational component of Charisma. The secret of conveying Authenticity is representing the external persona you show the world in a manner consistent with your internal mental and emotional state. We’ll use Improv techniques, visualization, and role-playing to teach you how to align your outer and inner self. These techniques will also help you identify and eliminate the tics and “tells” that undermine your Authenticity and Credibility.
  • You’ll learn to adapt key improv concepts such as “Clean Landings” and “Yes, and…” to navigate your real-life situations successfully.
  • Improv exercises will show you how to recognize and neutralize the triggers that tend to undermine your Poise and Self-Assurance. You’ll learn tried-and-true techniques for building your Confidence and Composure. We’ll equip you with tips and tricks for staying cool and focused in response to stressful or unexpected situations.

AWESOMETICITY’S WORKSHOP FORMAT

clapboard
  • Workshops are usually about 1.5 hours, with 5 to 15 participants.
  • Typically, we begin with a discussion about Authenticity and Charisma featuring video examples of movie actors and political public speakers.
  • Moving on, we lead the group in brief improv exercises, which gives team members some experience learning to listen and entertain feedback from the group and then give spontaneous responses to the group’s input.
  • Team members are asked to give a brief elevator speech, then we coach in front of the group so that everyone benefits from the exercise.
  • Participants who feel scared or apprehensive about getting in front of a group discover the experience is fun, even exhilarating. And they learn a lot.
  • Workshops are ideal for building team dynamics, they’re perfect for sales teams and CEO groups.
